EU Battery Regulation: deadlines for Amazon sellers (2025 to 2027)
If you sell anything containing a battery, Regulation (EU) 2023/1542 applies to you. Its duties phase in over several years, so the obligations keep growing.
The key dates
Extended producer responsibility for batteries has applied since 18 August 2025.
New labelling requirements apply from 18 August 2026.
Supply chain due diligence obligations apply from 18 August 2027.
The first digital battery passport is due from 18 February 2027.
Why it matters on Amazon
Battery registration and labelling gaps are an EPR failure like any other, and can block your listing on the affected marketplace.
